Ophthalmic Physicians, Inc. offers the most technologically advanced

treatment options available for cataract surgery

What is advanced/custom cataract surgery?

Cataract surgery has advanced remarkably. Advanced or Custom cataract surgery refers not only to removing the cataract but also performing additional advanced procedures and/or replacing the cataract with a premium intraocular lens (IOL).  Today, patients can choose from a wide variety of lenses along with additional high precision laser technology that together can provide customized options for enhanced and optimized visual outcomes.  Cataract procedures have never been this accurate or efficient.

LenSx Femtosecond Laser

The LenSx Femtosecond Laser is a bladeless, advanced procedure that uses real-time, high-resolution photography to capture precise images of your eyes assisting the surgeon with several aspects of the cataract surgery including correction of pre-existing astigmatism.  Check with your eye doctor to see if you are a candidate for the LenSx laser.

ORA -  ORA Optiwave Refractive Analyzer

The ORA Optiwave Refractive Analyzer is a real-time analysis performed during surgery that allows the surgeon to make highly refined adjustments to the lens power and astigmatism correction before placing the new IOL.  The ultimate benefit of the ORA System Analysis is that it helps confirm for the surgeon that the IOL (intraocular lens) implant in your eye is of the correct power and precisely oriented, in cases of astigmatism correcting lenses.  Although ORA Analysis is not necessary to achieve good results after cataracts surgery, it provides another level of confidence in the choice of lens power for your cataract surgery, essentially a way to ‘fine-tune’ the lens power decision.

Intraocular Lenses – IOL’s

New advances in intraocular lenses (IOLs) can address other vision problems in addition to cataracts including presbyopia, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism and help reduce your dependence on glasses after surgery. Your Ophthalmic Physicians surgeon will help you determine which lens is right for you based on your visual needs and lifestyle.  For additional information, see our ‘About IOLs’ section on this website under the Cataract heading.
